Célestins Theater
This magnificent Italian-style theater owes its name to the Célestins convent that once stood in its place, a few steps from the hotel and Place Bellecour. Built in the 19th century on the banks of the Saône, it is one of the oldest theaters in France.
The greatest works have been performed here, and Célestins forged its avant-garde reputation as early as the 1930s by contributing to the success of revolutionary playwrights such as Beckett and Ionesco.
